a letter to my future self
Hi!
I hope you're finding even more magic in the small things. The way light hits a shoulder, the way a couple looks at each other when they think you're not shooting, the quiet sigh a mom makes when she gets all of her family in ONE frame.
I hope you're still choosing presence over pressure, and most of all... perfectionism.
That you don't get SO caught up in what you should be doing that you forget to take a look around and see the path you're already on. I hope you still cry at every wedding you attend. I hope you still get the jitters before a shoot. I hope you've stoped apologizing for needing space, rest, or time to feel something before you create.
I know there have been seasons (and likely more to come) where you question everything. Where burnout has crept in, or imposter syndrome whispered a bit too loud. I hope you remember that your passion and talent isn't just in how you take photos, but how you see people. How you hold space for them. (Shut up, I am referencing the interview of our beloved "Wicked" duo).
I hope you still choose warmth over polish.
I hope you're still chasing what feels honest, even if it doesn't always feel impressive.
I hope you're still putting your best foot forward, despite uncharted ground.
And when you're feeling stuck, I hope you look back at where you started and remember:
You built something real, from nothing.
You built something that is entirely YOURS.
And you are doing exactly what you used to dream about doing.
Keep creating from that place, loving on people, and sharing the beauty of life with the world. It's more than enough, and most importantly... it's beautiful. I'm so proud of you.
XO,
Kelsey
